Orionids Meteor Shower 2016

stellarium-016
The Orionids Meteor shower will be visible from the UK during October and will peak on the evening of 20/21st October. The best time to view is early morning before dawn but anytime after midnight should see meteors. Look up towards the constellation of Orion in the ESE and the radiant of the Orionids will be to the left of the Red Supergiant, Betelguese although you can see meteors anywhere in the sky. Expect to see around 15 meteors per hour and if you are lucky even up to 25 per hour. The best way to watch for meteors is to wrap up warm, go outside and lie on a sunlounger and scan the night sky. You may wish to have a notebook handy to record your observations. Good hunting!
